Cold War paranoia abounds in Star City, the spinoff of the space-race thriller From All Mankind. What if the Soviet Union had been the first country to put a man on the moon? What would life have been like inside the Iron Curtain as the race for space supremacy faced unknown threats?
The space race is looked upon as an idyllic time when mankind worked to achieve something previously thought to be impossible. With the Soviet Union on their heels, the United States made it to the moon and planted the flag. The new Apple TV series will take fans on a journey into a world of what could have been if the tables were turned.
What is Star City about?
Here’s the official synopsis from Apple TV:
“Star City is a propulsive paranoid thriller that takes us back to the key moment in the alt-history retelling of the space race – when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the moon. But this time, we explore the story from behind the Iron Curtain, showing the lives of the cosmonauts, the engineers, and the intelligence officers embedded among them in the Soviet space program, and the risks they all took to propel humankind forward.”
