Good things come to those who wait. That was particularly true when it comes to The 13th Scoop activation at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. FX and Hulu looked ahead to American Horror Story season 13 (coming September 24) by taking a look back at all twelve seasons. Those who successfully navigated the journey were rewarded with a very special scoop of ice cream at The 13th Scoop.
Fans at SDCC were treated to bespoke ice cream at four different trucks over the course of three days, with each stop representing a different season of the show. Thursday’s stops included AHS: Monster House, Asylum, Coven and Freak Show. Friday was a trip back to Hotel, Roanoke, Cult and Apocalypse, and Saturday was a celebration of 1984, NYC, Double Feature and Delicate. Those fans who signed up for text messages learned the location of The 13th Scoop, a special activation celebrating the upcoming season.
As it happens, The 13th Scoop took place in the Copley Alley at the Horton Grand Hotel, a site that held one of the ice cream trucks earlier in the day. Once we were escorted inside, we were treated to 13, the final scoop of ice cream, served in a keepsake metal bowl engraved with the American Horror Story logo and a stylized number 13.
13 featured vanilla ice cream and red velvet cake swirl with blood red chocolate sauce. A red chocolate 13 and a shard of bloody red melted sugar completed the look.
Elsewhere in the activation, Murder House’s Rubber Man made an appearance and posed for photos with lucky guests.
Of all the offsites at SDCC 2026, I have to say that FX and Hulu had the best activations of all. Bespoke ice cream celebrating the different seasons of the show, clever character photo ops and a quest to find The 13th Scoop gave fans a fun quest to undertake during the convention. Not only that, the level of details and the amount of thought that went into each ice cream truck was impressive. This is exactly the kind of activation that’s appealing to longtime fans while also drawing in new fans. More than ever, I’m so excited for American Horror Story 13!
