Thank you, IGN Fan Fest 2024! Jacob Anderson shared an exclusive clip from Interview with the Vampire season 2 featuring two key interactions. In the first half, it’s Anderson’s Louis having an existential chat with Claudia (Delainey Hayles) at a Parisian cafe. The second half of the clip features a conversation between Louis and Daniel (Eric Bogosian), with an assist from Armand (Assad Zaman).
We’re going to break down the first half of the clip to start. As a refresher, you can watch below:

Claudia Turns the Camera on Louis
Louis and Claudia are sitting at a cafe table in Paris. Ever the tourist (and humanist), Louis is snapping photos with his camera. Claudia asks him telepathically what he’s looking for in his photos. “Surprise,” he says. He’s not looking for anything specific, rather he’s looking for things you might not notice otherwise. Like an ill-fitting hat, or someone suddenly remembering something. Are things random, or choreographed?
As he waxes poetic, she interrupts and says she wanted the short answer.
“Who are you, Louis?” she asks.
“I’m your brother,” he replies.
“Who are you outside of me?” she presses.
Louis goes on to say he’s The Reticent Vampire, “I walk the night capturing disappointment and regret as only The Reticent Vampire can.”
She grabs the camera and asks who he is outside of her, and him. (Likely Lestat, but possibly Armand, too, given that he’s got his camera when they raid the mansion for dinner in the first teaser). As he prepares to respond, she takes his picture.
This is where the scene fades to black and moves to present-day, which we’ll discuss in another post.
A More Mature Claudia
In Interview with the Vampire season 1, Claudia went from being a human teenager to a grown woman, though her body remained the same. She went off in search of herself and came back to her family with the kind of wisdom that’s only possible when you go out into the world to figure things out on your own.
Despite their age difference, both physically and in vampire terms, Claudia has a definite sense of self while Louis is still figuring things out, despite his witty comebacks. And she knows it. She’s trying to figure him out, and she’s going to make him think about who he is while she’s doing it.
Claudia would make one heck of a psychologist.
After watching this clip, all I know is that if the season is half as good as these teasers have been, we’re in for a real treat.
Interview with the Vampire season 2 premieres Sunday, May 12, at 9pm ET/PT on AMC and AMC+.
