San Diego Comic-Con 2025 delivered lots of news and thrilling surprises to fans of AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe. The Vampire Lestat, formerly known as Interview with the Vampire season 3, is coming in 2026 and by all indications it’s going to be a big hit. Several familiar faces will return in the new season, including Assad Zaman and Delainey Hayles, but some fans are wondering about Luke Brandon Field. Will young Daniel Molloy return in The Vampire Lestat?
During The Vampire Lestat panel, showrunner Rolin Jones gave the eager audience the names of new characters coming to the show and the actors that play them. In terms of returning characters, Jones indicated that Armand (Assad Zaman), Claudia (Delainey Hayles), real Rashid (Bally Gill), Raglan James (Justin Kirk), Vampire Sam (Christopher Geary), Fareed (Gopal Divan) and Nicki (Joseph Potter) are coming back for more. But there was no mention of young Daniel Molloy, portrayed to perfection by Luke Brandon Field.
You can see Jones introducing the cast in the clip below:
While we love a good surprise when it comes to casting, it would be nice to know that Field is coming back for more. As young Molloy, Field is phenomenal and he’s even better when paired with Zaman’s Armand.
However, the answer to the question might be staring us in the face. As it happens, Eric Bogosian is appearing in both The Vampire Lestat and the upcoming ARIU series Talamasca: The Secret Order. Bogosian indicated during SDCC’s Talamasca panel that the secretive group has been following Daniel for years, so it stands to reason that we might see the younger version of Molloy in flashbacks as Bogosian’s newly minted Vampire Daniel deals with the Talamasca in the present.
We don’t expect the Talamasca: The Secret Order to confirm Field’s casting. If he shows up, it’ll be a very welcome and pleasant surprise and we’ll be glad to see it. As for the Daniel and Armand story that is told in Queen of the Damned, well, that’s a little more unclear because Jones is weaving a bit of QOTD into The Vampire Lestat even though he was hoping to keep the stories separate.
Here’s to hoping we see a lot more of Luke Brandon Field around the Anne Rice Immortal Universe!
