When Interview with the Vampire season 2 premieres May 12, fans will see quite a few new faces joining the IWTV family. One of the newcomers is Roxane Duran, the actor who will bring Madeleine to life.
Duran was born in Paris, France in 1993. She speaks three languages fluently: French, English and German. She’s worked in both television and theater; her film debut came in 2009 with Michael Haneke’s The White Ribbon, which took home the Palme d’Or Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
Some of her previous work includes the TV series Riviera, Clash of Futures, Deutsch-les-Landes and Marie Antoinette, in which she played Josephine. Some of the films she’s appeared in include Le chemin du bonheur, Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, The Cursed and Lovers.
What we know of Madeleine at this point comes from the version of Madeleine found in Anne Rice’s books. Based on what we know from the books, Madeleine is a vampire companion created for Claudia by Louis after Claudia pointed out that Louis had found himself a new companion in Armand. The child vampire tried to make Madeleine into a vampire herself, but her diminutive body wasn’t capable of creating a fledgling.
Given that IWTV writers have taken some creative liberties in the story to enhance and modernize it, we have no way of knowing how much the show’s version of Madeleine will dovetail with the version from Rice’s book. It’s safe to assume, however, that the show will keep Madeleine as Claudia’s would-be companion, as there’s no doubt that Louis becomes smitten with Armand while in Paris.
That means fans can look forward to learning more about Duran’s version of Madeleine as the second season unfolds, and there’s no question that it’s going to be a thrilling ride.
