Passionflix releases Amy Bensen premiere date, teaser

Christmas is coming early for Passionistas after Passionflix announced a release date for The Secret Life of Amy Bensen along with a tantalizing new teaser. 

The Amy Bensen series, which is based on Lisa Renee Jones’ bestselling romantic thriller Escaping Reality: The Secret Life of Amy Bensen, will premiere on December 22. The first two 30-minute episodes of the first season will drop on the 22nd, with new episodes releasing weekly after that. There is no word on when season 2 will be released.

The Secret Life of Amy Bensen stars Maddie McCormick as the titular Amy Bensen (Little Fires Everywhere, Christmas at Pemberley Manor), a young woman who lost her family in a tragic accident. She’s been on the run for years, trying to escape an unknown threat that seems to perpetually be on her heels no matter where she runs. 

Casey King (Star Trek: Picard, Before I Got Famous) plays Liam Stone, a reclusive billionaire architect who sees through Amy’s bravado and will do anything to protect her. 

Amy and Liam meet during a flight and their chemistry flies off the charts from the very first moment they see each other. Though she appreciates his concern, Amy is wary of becoming close to anyone given the danger she faces while Liam knows that she’s scared and wants to help.

The movie also stars Dylan Nunez as Jared.

Filming on the new series started back in September. As it’s a series, there will be a number of directors stepping behind the camera including Tosca Musk and Passionflix newcomer Stacia Crawford.

It has been a busy fall for the romance streaming service. In addition to The Secret Life of Amy Bensen, Amy Daws’ Wait With Me is in post-production and Gabriel’s Redemption is taking a break for the holidays before filming continues in 2023.
