In Gwenda Bond’s Not Your Average Hot Guy it’s a race against time to prevent the end of the world. Callie is a genius when it comes to obscure trivia and designing escape rooms for her family’s business. Luke, aka Luke Morningstar, is the son of the devil and he needs to prove his worthiness to his father. When a satanic cult arrives at the escape room, Luke seizes upon the opportunity to steal their souls to please his father. Of course, things don’t go as planned.
Not Your Average Hot Guy features a sinfully smoldering hero and a heroine who isn’t afraid of standing up for herself. Callie and Luke have amazing chemistry despite Callie’s insistence that there’s nothing going on between them. From Callie’s escape room to Luke’s home in Hell’s Gray Keep, our hero and heroine must cover a lot of ground if they’re going to stop the cult from wreaking havoc.
Since the action takes place over the course of a couple days, it moves very fast and it’s easy to get lost in the pacing of the story. That said, the book is such a fun read that you can easily finish it in one sitting if you have a couple of hours to spare. The witty banter and interesting characters help keep things fun and fresh, and the story itself is utterly original and refreshing.
Callie is no damsel in distress, and despite his bravado Luke is struggling to figure out who he is and where he fits in the cosmic order of things. Together, they make quite a team. The supporting cast is fantastic. From devious villains insistent upon destroying the world to Callie’s friends and family who get roped in on the journey to save the day, each character plays an important role in Callie and Luke’s journey.
The highly anticipated sequel in the Match Made in Hell duology, The Date From Hell, features the continuation of Callie and Luke’s relationship. It arrives in stores on April 5, 2022.
