If you’ve ever wondered whether AMC is truly “all-in” on the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, the new trailer for The Vampire Lestat proves that they’re invested. They’re more than invested.
Between tantalizing morsels from the show dropped here and there to whet the appetites of eager fans to the release of full songs from the show, AMC’s marketing blitz demonstrates that the network’s marketing has evolved. As someone who has followed one of AMC’s other cornerstone properties, The Walking Dead, since the beginning over 15 years ago, I can tell you that things around the network have changed a lot over the years and it’s a good thing.
After watching The Vampire Lestat trailer, there’s one other detail that offers a clue about how invested they truly are.

In the trailer, Lestat (Sam Reid) is singing Billy Idol’s iconic “Dancing With Myself.” Paying for the use of the song no doubt cost a pretty penny. (We’d like to imagine that Mr. Idol is a big fan of the show and was thrilled at the use of his song…but even so, royalties would still need to be paid)
Truth be told, there’s no better song for Lestat to be singing and I’m glad they paid to use it to complement Daniel Hart’s original songs.
When it comes to the trailer, it’s clear that AMC spared no expense in delivering Lestat’s self-proclaimed rockstar era. And this is only the beginning. The Vampire Lestat is coming to AMC on Sunday, June 7.
