Back in February 2026 (on Valentine’s Day, no less!), I wrote about how AMC should consider doing a live concert featuring Sam Reid as The Vampire Lestat at San Diego Comic-Con. Now that the live one-night-only concert at the Beacon Theater in New York City has wrapped up, fans are eager for more live performances and I have some thoughts about how that might work.
REVIEW: THE VAMPIRE LESTAT IS THE BEST SHOW OF THE DECADE
When I initially wrote about a live concert, we didn’t know when The Vampire Lestat was set to premiere. Based on some very educated guesses, I predicted either a June or August premiere. Lo and behold, the June date came to fruition. In terms of planning a concert at SDCC, a June premiere would place the show near its season finale by the time SDCC arrived. (SDCC 2026 is July 23-26, incidentally)
Now, as we count down the days until the June 7 premiere, we also know that Reid is set to perform in Sydney Theater Company’s production of Doubt. Reid is returning to the stage after a ten-year absence to play Father Flynn. Opening night is July 4, and the production is scheduled to run June 30-August 2.
With this in mind, it’s highly unlikely that Reid will be able to leave Sydney to make a live, in-person appearance at SDCC this year. He could show up in a pre-recorded video, of course, or he might be able to do a live video call during the panel.
While he might not appear live at SDCC, there’s a very good chance that Reid and the cast will be on hand to promote the next season of The Vampire Lestat (BECAUSE OF COURSE THERE WILL BE ANOTHER SEASON!) at New York Comic Con. By that point, it’ll be time for Mayfair Witches to take center stage ahead of the show’s third season, but it’s hard to imagine that the vamps won’t be on hand to talk about what’s coming up.

NYCC would be a great time, therefore, to get the band back together (literally and figuratively!) for another musical spectacular. NYCC takes place in early October – what better time to have a concert featuring a vampire lead singer? You could even go bicoastal and do an NYC concert and then fly the gang to Los Angeles or San Francisco for a second concert. At that point in the year, it’s possible that the cast is already back together, either filming the new season or preparing to film it.
And why stop there? If the show has any international filming locations, why not have a concert there, too?
The sobering reality is that Lestat’s time as a rock star is limited. As we know from the book, the show doesn’t go on forever and that means that there won’t be much of a reason to hold concerts after a certain point. That’s why NYCC would be the best time to have another concert.
Let’s hope AMC sees the success of the June 2 concert and finds a way to make another concert happen!
