I’ve been going to San Diego Comic-Con for 20 years and I’ve seen my fair share of offsite activations at the convention. This year, FX Networks and Hulu brought American Horror Story fans one of the best offsite experiences ever: 12 ice cream trucks celebrating all 12 seasons of the show. It all led up to The 13th Scoop on Saturday night to celebrate the upcoming new season, American Horror Story: 13.
Each day, four seasons of the show were featured at ice cream trucks around the San Diego Convention Center. Better yet, each location featured a bespoke ice cream flavor designed to represent the season, and a costumed character was on hand for a chilling photo op.
What I loved was how much effort clearly went into developing the ice cream flavors, designing the ice cream truck decor and figuring out which costumed character to feature at each location. The FX Networks PR team did a phenomenal job, and I’m more excited for AHS: 13 than ever. After this culinary walk down memory lane, I’m ready to go back and watch all 12 previous seasons ahead of 13’s September 24 premiere.
13 Ice Cream Flavors at SDCC 2026
There were 13 flavors of ice cream to celebrate AHS: 13. Full disclosure, I sampled six of the 13 and they were *chef’s kiss.* And I’m not an ice cream person.
Here they are in order of each season:
- Murder House:
- Basement Blackout: Charcoal ice cream with cherries and black glaze
- Asylum:
- Forgive Me Sister: Vanilla ice cream with white chocolate ganache and a cherry reduction-filled syringe
- Coven:
- Witch Please: Blackberry cocoa ice cream with blackberries, Earl Grey cake chunks and purple sugar rock crystals
- Freak Show:
- Dandy’s Delight: Green apple ice cream with caramel ribbons, sprinkles and kettle corn
- Hotel:
- No Vacancy: Red cherry ice cream with black candy shards and gold glitter
- Roanoke:
- Croatoan: Salted caramel ice cream, graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar bacon and chocolate “teeth”
- Cult:
- Hive Mind: Vanilla ice cream with honeycomb toffee crumble and black flaky sprinkles
- Apocalypse:
- Outpost 3: Bitter black coffee ice cream with tobacco swirl and spicy red sugar shards with edible grade dried bugs
- 1984:
- Killer S’mores: Maple ice cream with graham cracker crumbs and toasted marshmallow on a pretzel stick
- Double Feature:
- The Black Pill: Blackberry ice cream with fresh blackberries, a cherry reduction glaze and black licorice jelly beans
- NYC:
- Chocolate Is My Safe Word: Dark chocolate ice cream with brownie chunks and silver nonpareils
- Delicate:
- Cobweb Kiss: Lychee vanilla ice cream with cherry glaze and a sugar web dome
- 13:
- 13: Vanilla ice cream and red velvet cake swirl with blood red chocolate sauce
