AMC Should Bring Back Talamasca: The Secret Order ASAP

Now that The Vampire Lestat has bowed and Queen of the Damned is in the early stages of rising, it’s time to think about the future. Fans of AMC’s Anne Rice Immortal Universe are staring down a 18 to 24-month barrel before the vampires make their return. Thankfully, Mayfair Witches season 3 is coming in 2027 and that will help to ease the drought. But AMC should really consider bringing back Talamasca: The Secret Order.

Billed as a spy thriller with a supernatural twist, Talamasca: The Secret Order is the story of Guy Anatole (Nicholas Denton), a young man whose psychic abilities capture the attention of a secretive organization that watches over humankind. Agents are tasked with keeping order between humans and the vampires, witches and ghosts who inhabit our world, unseen by mortals. The series also featured William Fichtner as Jasper, a vampire who enjoyed toying with the Talamasca…and Guy.

It was a shock when AMC cancelled Talamasca: The Secret Order in March 2026, seemingly out of the blue. The show never really had a fighting chance. It should have been greenlit for two seasons to start, and those two seasons should have been filmed back-to-back so there wasn’t as much of a gap between them. There were so many interesting directions for the show to take once the foundation was established. The spy thriller aspect was interesting, but the characters alone were enough for me to buy in and hope for future seasons.

Given the amount of time between seasons, AMC needs to get a third – and fourth – series into rotation in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. Bring back Talamasca. Add The Night Island, but re-work it away from the original concept about art thieves and focus on different eras of Armand and Young/Older Daniel Molloy. If you’re going to have seasons with six to eight episodes in them, then having multiple series in the mix is necessary.

Once upon a time, AMC had The Walking Dead flagship series and its two original spinoffs, Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond, airing throughout the year. It was a different era in television back then, circa 2019, before the pandemic, strikes and contraction disrupted the status quo. AMC’s commitment to their wildly popular franchise could pave the way for a return.

Talamasca: The Secret Order is also the perfect vehicle for crossovers. We already saw Eric Bogosian and Justin Kirk appear on the fledgling series. There is plenty of room for more crossovers as Talamasca finds its wings and takes flight.

AMC has the power to bring Talamasca back. We don’t need a mea culpa here, we just need to see Guy, Jasper and the rest of the team return.
