Talamasca: The Secret Order Lands in Netflix Top 10 After Two Days – Why AMC Should Take Note

Talamasca: The Secret Order was cancelled in March 2026, but the series has found new life on Netflix. The AMC series, part of the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, is currently at No. 4 on the Netflix Top 10. It’s all the more reason that AMC should consider giving the show a second chance.

Thanks to AMC Global Media’s deal with Netflix, Talamasca is one of the many AMC shows that have found a new home on the streaming giant’s platform. The Walking Dead, the TWD spinoffs, Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches are all on the platform. In the case of Talamasca, however, there’s something very notable about its streaming debut.

Talamasca debuted on Netflix on August 23, 2026. Two days later, on August 25, the series was already in the No. 4 spot on the Netflix Top 10.

For a series that was cancelled almost six months ago, it’s quite an impressive feat. And it’s one that AMC should be looking at very closely.

It’s not unusual for series to find new life on Netflix. From Suits to Lucifer and Manifest to La Brea, there is a long track record of shows surging in popularity after making their streaming debut.

In a lot of ways, Talamasca never really got a fair shake. Based in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, the series is based on the secretive organization that observes supernatural phenomenon. Though references to the organization can be found throughout The Vampire Lestat, Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches, the series is not directly based on a book. Showrunners John Lee Hancock and Mark Lafferty developed original characters and an original story, but the six-episode first (and only) season didn’t capture enough of an audience to be granted another season.

“While we are not proceeding with another season of Talamasca: The Secret Order, we are proud of the series and grateful for the efforts of everyone involved,” an AMC spokesperson said in a statement to Variety. “The Talamasca has a storied place within the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and we expect to see at least some of these characters, and the organization itself, in future expressions of the franchise.”

Though the spy thriller didn’t resonate with viewers, fans were thrilled by the possibilities offered by the series. Fans were particularly captivated by Nicholas Denton’s Guy and William Fichtner’s beguiling vampire, Jasper. And, notably, Eric Bogosian and Justin Kirk crossed over from IWTV and The Vampire Lestat. Whether it was intentional or not, Talamasca was the perfect vehicle for crossovers with the vampires and witches.

We’ll probably never know the specific reasons that Talamasca was cancelled. As a completely new series in the ARIU, it was already facing an uphill battle when it came to building an audience. But it absolutely deserved another season to find its legs.

Seeing its popularity on Netflix after two short days should give AMC reason to consider resurrecting it from the dead. The network owns the rights. The only real roadblock to bringing it back would be the availability of the cast and crew. And budget, of course. But given the resurgence in the show’s popularity, it seems like bringing Talamasca: The Secret Order back would be a very wise investment.
