Horror fans know the story of Jason Voorhees, the boy whose tragic drowning led to the birth of a homicidal maniac in the Friday the 13th franchise. But what happened to his mother, Pam Voorhees, in the aftermath of his death? A24 seeks to answer that question with Crystal Lake, a new series coming to Peacock just ahead of Halloween.
The series hails from Brad Caleb Kane, whose credits include It: Welcome to Derry, Tokyo Vice and Warrior. Kane serves as the creator, writer, showrunner and executive producer of the project.

When is the Crystal Lake premiere?
Crystal Lake premieres Thursday, October 15, on Peacock. There will be eight 60-minute episodes.
What is Crystal Lake about?
Here’s the synopsis from Peacock: “A prequel to the Friday the 13th franchise, the series follows single mother Pam Voorhees who has been unable to shake her grief after her young, sickly son Jason tragically drowned in the town lake almost a year before. When two strangers arrive at Pam’s door digging into her past, a disturbing chain of events is set into motion, leaving the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: just who is Pam Voorhees?”
