Fans are eagerly sinking their teeth into Black Dagger Brotherhood season 2 on Passionflix. The scintillating adaptation of JR Ward’s Lover Eternal features the love story between Rhage (Alexander Cubis) and Mary (Audrey Hare). I had a chance to speak with Cubis and Hare ahead of the season premiere, fresh on the heels of the cast’s appearance at Cinci ’26, and the stars expressed their appreciation and gratitude for BDB fans.

After seeing the reaction from BDB fans at Cinci ’26, I reflected on how excited fans were for Rhage and Mary’s story after Passionflix optioned the series. I wanted to know what’s it like from Cubis and Hare’s perspective as they engage with fans and see the love they have for the characters and the deep appreciation they have for the actors bringing them to life.
“It makes it so much easier going into the story,” Cubis said, “because it made the job and the role itself and preparing for the performance all the more meaningful, knowing that other people on the other side are waiting for it and care so much about the details.”
He noted how unique Passionflix movies and series are, given that they all come with a built-in fan base. “It’s pretty rare with an acting job that doesn’t have an existing fandom, or even if it’s a big budget TV show, to know that there are people out there who care as much about the details as you, the director and your co-star will. But with Black Dagger Brotherhood, and with Rhage and Mary’s story in particular, it’s apparent in every interaction that we have, every letter we get and when we meet with fans at these events. So it makes the experience of preparing and then filming all that much more fun and meaningful.
“So yeah, I’m just full of gratitude, really,” he added. “The fans are awesome.”
Hare agreed, noting that she’s heard from fans about why they’re drawn to the character of Mary. “I think fans also specifically relate to Mary’s story, and I’ve heard from a lot of fans about that as well,” she said. “I can relate to her story in so many ways in terms of the grief and what she’s experiencing with that. So it was really impactful to hear their own stories about it. I felt like I was approaching the material in the same way that they were reading the books 20 years ago when it first came out, and that was just really meaningful to me and really drove the whole project.”
Black Dagger Brotherhood season 2 is available to stream now, exclusively on Passionflix.
