They said it was going to be a big announcement, and big it was: Passionflix announced on Monday that they’ve optioned the rights for J.R. Ward’s beloved and bestselling vampire series Black Dagger Brotherhood.
Passionflix and Ward teased big news on their respective social media accounts ahead of Monday’s big announcement. Ward used hashtags like #dreamscometrue to describe her excitement, and for good reason!
When the announcement came, Ward said that she’s thrilled to be part of the “home” of romance at Passionflix. She also noted that she’s thrilled to work with Tosca because she understands the series so well.
The Black Dagger Brotherhood
The first book in the series is titled Dark Lover. Here’s the book’s description:
“The only purebred vampire left on the planet and the leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who killed his parents centuries ago. Dark Lover was published in 2005 and quickly stood out among other paranormal romance stories thanks to its leading man, Wrath, who is unlike any other vampire alpha male out there.
There are over two dozen books in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series (if you need help with reading order, here’s a handy guide from Ward’s website) and each book builds upon the previous one. Ward brings her world to life in Dark Lover and continues to build it with each subsequent book.
While Wicked and Torn are the romance streamer’s first forays into paranormal romance, the Black Dagger Brotherhood series will be the first time vampires have graced the Passionflix library, and we’re very excited to hear it.

Do you have a release date for the first movie ?
It sounds like it’s going to be a series, and from what I understand it could start production as soon as later this year…so hopefully we have a premiere at the end of the year or early next year.
I love this series and I can wait hardly until the movies are on the screen!!
I can’t not wait !! I have been reading this series for years. I just hope they don’t go “ big name” actor on this. I hope they really find the right actors to embody these characters. They’re so special and to most of us fans we don’t want to see big name actors. We just want actors who truly embody the characters we love so much.

When I see Wrath (whose character I love) I see Jason Momoa. To me he is the face of Wrath.
