Ever wonder what your favorite haunts and mazes look like with the lights on? During Knott’s Scary Farm Nightmares Revealed 2026 , fans were able to tour two mazes with the lights on. The event, which took place August 18, featured information about new and returning shows and mazes, new partnerships and a chance to visit two mazes with the lights on: Widows and Room 13. You can take a look at our video from the event.
The Widows maze is one of many mazes offered at Knott’s Scary Farm. The story is relatively simple: spiders infest a nursing home, terrorizing the residents before taking over the house completely. Even with the lights on and limited special effects going, the story behind the maze is easy to figure out pretty quickly.

As you’ll see, the arachnid takeover builds with each turn until you come upon the chilling grand finale.
Knott’s Scary Farm Widows maze lights on tour
Despite covering shows like The Walking Dead for over a decade, I’m a softie when it comes to horror. And until recently I’ve been terrified of the idea of exploring mazes and haunts. It was only last year that I ventured into the Hall of Shadows at Midsummer Scream by myself. This year I tested my limits by actually exploring some of the haunts and really enjoyed it.
Being able to venture inside the mazes during Nightmares Revealed with the lights on was a great opportunity for people like me to see what it’s like without having the scary part cranked up to a 10. The lights are on and many of the special effects are going, but there are no scare actors inside. I was able to move around and film (for this event, filming was encouraged by the KSF staff) and really get a sense of what Widows was all about.

What’s more is that having the lights on gave me a chance to see the incredible artistry that goes into these haunts. Whether it’s at a theme park event like Knott’s Scary Farm or a home haunt in a local neighborhood, the amount of work that goes into these productions is incredible. I discovered that I love the practical effects and wanted to see – and learn – about how these mazes come to life. Being able to see the little Easter Eggs, like the labels of the bug spray in a home infested with giant spiders, was a fun bonus, too.
While the lights will be off – and filming won’t be allowed – during Scary Farm, this was a fun experience that truly enhanced my appreciation for all of the work that goes into bringing Knott’s Scary Farm to life.
